If it seems like there are a lot of pictures of Delaney sleeping, well, it's because that's what she's doing most of the time!!! For live-action shots of Delaney and Jackson, see the movies at http://pictures.my-network.com/movies/. They are big files (2 to 26 MB), so make sure you choose the one you want before you download. Also, the movies will probably play better if you right-click and select "Save Target As..." instead of playing them in your web browser. Posted by Hello

Last one for the night. Thanks for enduring the barrage of pictures of my lovely little ones! I'll be hiding the mass email addresses from here on out, as well. :) Hope all is well with you and yours... Posted by Hello

Mom and Tymaree came this last weekend. Tym flew back to New York Monday, but Mom's here until this Saturday. It's amazing how babies bring families closer. We were talking about how my [Nate's] family has seen more of each other since Jackson was born than in the previous 7 years combined! Babies offer a fresh start, a new reference point, and a beginning for everyone around them. This new chapter is starting well. Delaney is an "angel baby", meaning LOW MAINTENENCE. At this age, Jackson was waking up every 90 minutes, then crying for an hour. What a blessing that we can all be much more rested now and able to respond to Jackson's toddler(and our!!) needs. God knows what God's doing! Posted by Hello

Jackson, 2 1/2, with Delaney as she arrives home from the hospital. Posted by Hello

I find the first thing to come to my mind, often these days, is to look for differences and similarities between Delaney and her brother, Jackson. Already, many are showing.
  • Delaney sleeps (so far) so much more than Jackson did, and her alert periods are much quieter. Jen is afraid to talk to much about it, since she's waiting for the other shoe to drop and to be up every 90 minutes, like she was with Jackson.
  • One difference, I find, is with me. Due to experience with Jackson's infant cries, I almost immediately was able to tell when Delaney was hungry, as opposed to merely physically uncomfortable.

Come to think of it, a lot of the differences are with me and Jen, rather than between Jackson and Delaney! I'm sure that will continue...

This is another of the hard copy announcement photos, taken today at home. Posted by Hello

This photo was taken in the hospital, and is one of the hard copy pictures going out with the snail mail announcements. Those are Jen's hands. Posted by Hello

This is the photo we sent out with the email announcement. Delaney's in her car seat and has just arrived home after two nights in the hospital! Posted by Hello

Inaugural post

Greetings and salutations!

Our daughter, Delaney Elizabeth Cook, was born one week ago, 19:24 17 Apr 2005. When our son, Jackson, was born in 2002, I emailed a weekly update with a picture or two to relatives and friends. I'm going to try this blog for a while and see how it goes.

Using Picasa, Hello, and Blogger, I'm hoping to quickly and easily post thoughts and pictures for folks to check out at their leisure without clogging their email accounts with pictures...

Hope you enjoy!
